Hi! I’m Danielle, the author and creator of Simply Splendid. If you’re here, it’s probably because you enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, which means we already have something in common! Or you may not love cooking, but we all have to eat, so you figure if you have to do it you might as well make something good. If this applies to you, no worries, there’s a place for you here too!
I created this blog to share some of my favorite recipes, and I try to keep EVERY type of cook in mind. Whether you’re seasoned in the kitchen, or you can’t boil water! I try to include step-by-step directions and pictures with my recipes so they are as easy to follow as possible. Let’s be honest, even the most seasoned cooks come across a recipe they’ve never tried before, and even for us it can be difficult and confusing. Trust me, I’ve been there! That’s why I try to look at every recipe from the perspective of the beginner, without lulling on so some of you more seasoned cooks don’t get too bored!
As a mom of three I totally get how hard it can be to find time to get dinner on the table, so while some of my recipes may be more time consuming, I also have some quick and simple ones in there too! Believe me, I don’t always have time to spend hours in the kitchen, so even as someone who enjoys cooking, I need some quick go-to meals too! I also get that cooking can become monotonous and boring, so I’m always mixing it up! No one really wants to eat the same five meals every week. So, when things get a little boring, or your kids are whining because you’re making grilled cheese again fear not, I’ll have you covered!
A little about me
As I mentioned I’m a mom of three! I spend a lot of my time toting around tiny humans. I try to get them as involved as possible in the kitchen. Which isn’t always easy, believe me.
Growing up, I spent a lot of my time in the kitchen with my mom, and it’s truly one of my fondest memories. As I got older I started taking on the kitchen duties. I would BEG her to let me cook dinner. As a teenager I started experimenting with different recipes, and trying new things.
Over the past couple of years I’ve stepped more and more out of my comfort zone. When it comes to cooking, it’s ok to mess up a meal every now and then. It’s ok to have flops (as in life.) It’s taken me quite a while to realize this, but now that I have the possibilities are truly endless! I hope I can encourage you to do the same!
If you ever have any questions or need tips or advice feel free to contact me! I try my best to help, and I’m always open to suggestion!
