This homemade strawberry sauce is great with almost any treat! Ice cream, crepes, cheesecakes, and so many other things! It’s not too hard to make and tastes better than anything you’ll buy in the store! I love having a jar of this on hand to enjoy with my desserts.
What you’ll need:
16 oz of strawberries
1 tbs lemon juice
1 1/2 C granulated sugar
1/4 C brown Sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Start by cutting the strawberries in to bite size chunks. You can make them as big or as small as you like them, it just depends on your preference.
Next place all of the ingredients in a large wide bottom sauce pan. This is where a lot of recipes call for water, but it’s really not necessary. Once you add the sugar and lemon juice the strawberries create their own liquid and it really makes for a better flavor. Put your pan over high heat and stir constantly as the strawberries come to a boil. You’ll notice that the strawberries start releasing more liquid. Bring to a boil, turn the burner down just a tad, and continue boiling, stirring constantly, for 5-7 minutes until it’s as thick as pancake syrup.
Remove from the heat. If you’re storing the strawberries in a glass container or jar you can poor them in immediately. Then wait for the jar to cool before putting it in the fridge. If you’re using a plastic container allow the strawberries to cool before putting them in the container.
Now they’re ready to serve with your favorite dessert!
